Fine Art graduates join together to promote their work
A group of 13 East Midlands-based artists have formed a collective so that they can exhibit and work together on projects.
Socket is the name of the new contemporary art group formed by graduates of the continuing education Fine Art degree course at The University of Nottingham. Each graduated from the course, which was located at the Shakespeare Street site but is now located at Jubilee Campus, at some point between 2007 and 2011.
All of the thirteen artists have developed independent careers exhibiting locally, nationally and internationally working in a variety of media including, paint, printmaking, installation, three-dimensional work and digital media.
The artists have come together to forge mutually beneficial working relationships with fellow artists, curators and other professionals in the visual art field.
Socket already has two exhibitions planned for later this year. In September (8th-29th) the Tarpey Gallery (www.tarpeygallery.com) will be hosting Socket’s debut exhibition in Castle Donington. Hot on the heels of this they will be part of Beeston's Carnival of Monsters 2012, an annual festival of contemporary art held at the historic Bartons venue (October 13th -28th). Visit www.bartonsplc.co.uk for full details.
Why not go along and support your fellow alumni and enjoy some innovative and exciting works at the same time?
