Celebrations for 10th anniversary of Nottingham in China

Celebrations have begun to mark the 10th anniversary of The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) — the first foreign independent university campus to be established in China. Pictures from the official launch ceremony can be found here.

A University of Nottingham Philosophy graduate is one of the stars of the newly released Hollywood adventure film Divergent.

Theo James (Philosophy 2007) or Theodore Taptiklis, as he was known during his student days, was treading the boards of the University’s New Theatre just seven years ago but now joins a growing and prestigious list of alumni of the theatre, which includes Olivier award winner and BAFTA and Golden Globe nominated actress Ruth Wilson. / ......more

Global US company invests in the University to promote STEM subjects

Caterpillar, a leading manufacturer of heavy equipment and power systems products, is helping to fund six engineering scholarships at The University of Nottingham.

Nottingham is one of five universities to benefit from the donation, which is part of Caterpillar’s ongoing commitment to sustainable education and the Caterpillar Foundation’s investment in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects will help increase the UK pipeline of talent in these critical fields. / ......more
Over many years, generous gifts from our US alumni and friends have enabled The Friends of The University of Nottingham: America to fund scholarships specifically for American students who wish to study in Nottingham.

As the cost of university increases and our financial climate continues to deliver uncertainty, Fun America wants to give more financial support to students and continue to inspire them to make the trip over to the UK. FUN America’s aim is to increase the 20 existing scholarships that are funded each year from 25% towards tuition fees to as much as 50% so that bright and promising students are not lost because of the financial challenges of studying in a different country. / ......more

Top accolade for pioneer of regenerative medicine

A University of Nottingham scientist and alumnus who carries out pioneering work in stem cell therapy and tissue engineering has won a prestigious award in the field of regenerative medicine.

Professor Kevin Shakesheff (Pharmacy 1991, Pharmaceutical Sciences PhD 1996) has been given one of the first ever RISE awards by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and Royal Academy of Engineering. The awards are brand new and were set up to recognise the leading scientists and engineers of the UK in this 20th anniversary year of the EPSRC. / ......more

Nottingham students’ Bricks app breaks into the app store chart

You know when you have a game in mind that you really want to play but it’s not in the app store? Well, when you’re a computer science student, that’s not an issue — you just build it yourself.

University choir hits a high note

The University of Nottingham’s Revival Gospel Choir has won the University Gospel Choir of the Year 2014 (UGCY).

The Nottingham group beat off stiff competition from seven other University choirs from across the UK to take the coveted prize — officially making them the best University Gospel choir in the UK. / ......more
