In the Shadow of War and Lee Miller’s War

This winter, the Djanogly Gallery at Nottingham Lakeside Arts presents two concurrent art exhibitions on the theme of the Second World War in anticipation of the 70th anniversary of the end of the conflict in 2015.

Lee Miller’s War features the work of one of the most remarkable female icons of the 20th century. Best known as a surrealist photographer and model, the exhibition focuses on one of the least recognised aspects of her lift – her years as a photojournalist during World War Two. Working as a freelance photographer for Vogue, in 1944 she became the only woman in combat photojournalism in Europe......more

Nottingham animal welfare pioneer recognised for her work in Asia

750,000 thanks!

The most successful University of Nottingham Life Cycle event has smashed its original fundraising target to reach a staggering £750,000 for Children’s Brain Tumour Research and many of you made this happen.

So many supporters got behind this year’s ride that the initial £500,000 target had to be extended. Thanks to the fundraising of the University’s alumni and friends and the many CBTR-affected families and their supporters too, the University expects the UK’s first intraoperative MRI scanner of its kind to be installed at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham by Spring next year......more

International opera singer and Nottingham alumna Kishani Jayasinghe (Law 2001) has capped another successful year with her debut album.

Christmas with Kishani was released on CD at the beginning of the month and includes a variety of Christmas classics such as Silent Night and The First Noel along with some Kishani versions of classics Amazing Grace and Ave Maria......more
